Welcome on the website of Tree of Life!

We want orphaned and abandoned children to grow up in a healthy environment and to become independent men and women.

Project: Generator for the orphanage

Yedidja needs a generator

The lot of land where our orphanage in Sakété is located is not connected to the public electricity network. In order for us to use the motor pump for our well and to have light on the center, we need a generator.

The generator that was given to us is almost out of use. We have weekly repairs and the generator uses an enourmous amount of gas per hour.

To allow our children to have light from lamps to do their homework after dark, and to water our garden on a regular basis, we are in urgent need of a generator.

Project costs: $4,500 or £2,800.

Time frame: April 2010

What is a Tree of Life?

The "Molinga Oleifera" is a tree that bears fruit all year round once it is big enough.

The bark, sap, roots, leaves, seeds, oil and flowers are used in traditional medicine in several countries. The leaves are highly nutritious. The tree is also commonly used in hedges and therefore provides protection for many people.

Children's camp 2009

The second children's camp has taken place from December 26 through 30, 2009 in Sakété. Its theme was "I have hidden your word in my heart“ (Psalm 119:11).

36 children participated in the camp which had one goal: stimulate the children's love for God's word and help them grow in their faith walk.

In their age groups, they were taught how to live more closely with God, how to apply the 10 commandments in their lives, and how to live as an exemplary citizen in this world. And of course, we did a lot of singing, dancing, playing games, and had excellent food.

We want to say a special “thank you” to the donors in Belfast, N. Ireland, and those in Germany for their generous gifts. The second children's camp was only possible with the help of your gifts!

At the end of the camp the children were given the possibility to write down a resolution which, following the teachings of the camp, was on their heart. In a solemn ceremony, they submitted their resolutions to the Lord, and a stone which symbolized the faithfulness and strength of God was set on them.

It was a very joyful 5 days, and according to the participants, the camp shall be held again – and not just because of the good food!
