For many school children in Benin, the immersion in the world of letters and numbers is not easy. Most are used to communicate in their mother tongue. Many do not speak French at all which means that they now have to learn to read and to write in a foreign language! Teachers do not receive any educational training. Therefore, they do not succed to teach the subjects in a child like manner. 

The abscence of teachers because of endless strikes and times of sickness obviously does not help improve the situation!

We want to help the Yedidja children to learn all the subjects correctly to avoid that they have to repeat the year. After a careful recruiting process, we have employed 3 tutors who are already teachers at school who will give the children extra lessons.  

We are also elaborating a tutoring program for the children which are in our support program and live in their families.
